Herbal Brain Tonic

Brain Tonic

Rosemary leaves (Rosmarinus officinalis): A member of the mint family. This fragrant and invigorating herb is useful for many situations!! For this recipe, I’m using it for brain health. How does Rosemary benefit the brain? It is known to increase blood flow, calm the nervous system and stimulate memory.

Ginkgo leaves: not only an anti-oxidant, but it can improve circulation in the brain. Studies have shown that Ginkgo can enhance memory and cognitive function in age-related brain decline. I need more of this herb!!

Gotu Kola leaves: a ‘calming’ herb that can enhance memory and cognition. Um, I sure need help in these areas. Stress and age-related mental decline are catching with me! Gotu Kola is cooling and works well with most constitutions. Like most herbs, this herb has many other remarkable benefits to the body.

I need a little herbal love to assist my recovery. That, along with finding quiet times of reflection, where the brain can rest and be restored.

This herbal infusion sat patiently on my counter-top for 6 weeks while the active ingredients from the herbs were extracted into the alcohol solvent.

What are you doing to keep your brain feeling fresh and sharp?

Here’s a simple recipe to follow… enjoy!!

Herbal Brain Tonic Recipe:

2 parts Ginkgo leaves

2 parts Gotu Kola leaves

½ part Rosemary leaves

Place dried herbs in sterile glass jar. Pour Vodka into jar covering herbs completely. Mix well and seal tightly. Include an intention, I always add LOVE. ?

Place on a cool counter out of direct sunlight. Shake gently every day, or as often as you remember. ?

Let this infusion sit for 6-8 weeks.

Strain the herbs using muslin or cheese cloth. Put herbs in compost or discard. Bottle the herbal solution in a dropper bottle for use.

Let me know how it goes!
