Native Plant Walk

I’ve been a California native plant fanatic for about a decade now, so you can imagine that when I moved up here to Idyllwild, I had a lot to learn about the local plants in this Yellow Pine Forest. OK, and mixed Woodland Forest too… I’m in the middle of both bioregions.

Whenever I can, I make a mental note of the plants along the trails, remembering my favorites.

I’ll admit, sometimes I overlook the common plants along the way. But they somehow seem to get my attention and remind me how beautiful they are regardless of my short-sightedness… I’m surrounded by Manzanita and I often take them for granted, but what a gorgeous plant!!

This hike will be challenging for some depending on fitness level.

Bring lots of water, insect repellent, wear a hat, sunscreen, and a sturdy pair of shoes. ?? Bring a light jacket just in case we get a summer shower.

I recommend a bandanna as a face covering as they tend to be lightweight and breathable.

We’ll be able to keep our distance from each other on the trail. The fresh air and sunshine will be excellent for all of us!!

Please save your spot by leaving a donation – I can only take out 10 people at a time. You will receive trail location the day before we meet.
